Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:
- A signal problem at the W. 4th Street-Washington Square subway station caused subway delays for over three hours. The MTA rerouted or suspended service along its 6th Avenue line, which carries B, D, F, and M trains. After three and a half hours, it was announced that the signal issue was fixed at 12:17 p.m. (AMNY)
- The NYC Half Marathon will run through the Lower East Side this month, as it has in years past. The race begins in Brooklyn's Prospect Park and will make its way over the Manhattan Bridge into the neighborhood. The race will proceed up the FDR before ending in Central Park. (Bowery Boogie)
- A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday for throwing a bottle in an East Village deli in a March 2021 attack. The Sheen Brothers Deli has been the target of numerous similar attacks in the year since, and have been consistently targeted since October. In one of the attacks, a group of teens repeatedly punched a clerk in the face and tried to force their way into the store.(Paywall: New York Daily News)
