Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:
- Activist attorney Arthur Schwartz was in court at the Appellate Division, arguing an appeal on the lawsuit attempting to block the city's East Side Coastal Resiliency plan. The plan would basically bury the East River Park under 10 feet of landfill, destroying the 82-year-old park and the nearly 1,000 mature trees it is home to. Activists plan to meet at sunrise on Nov. 1, the date which demolition of the park is slated to begin. (The Village Sun)
