LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — The man arrested after an alleged neo-Nazi attack on two brothers was released from Rikers Island last week after spending nearly a month behind bars. (For more news from the Lower East Side and Chinatown, sign up for Patch news alerts here.)

John Young, 29, was the only man charged in the incident, during which the two brothers say they were targeted by a group of neo-Nazis, including Young, outside a Lower East Side bar. On Feb. 11, a group of men associated with the 211 Crew, a white supremacist gang, saw the brothers leaving the Clockwork bar on the LES, according to the police account. The group "forcibly removed" one brother's cellphone in addition to threatening the men with a knife, and "the victims were punched and kicked in the head repeatedly," an NYPD spokesman told Patch last month. Both brothers were treated for multiple injuries.

Young was the only person in the group who was arrested. Police said they didn't know how many people were involved in total, but confirmed that the department's hate crimes task force was investigating the incident.

Young was arraigned on a charge of menacing in the second degree with a weapon, court records show. He was released from Rikers on March 8 after posting bail, according to jail records.

He is scheduled to appear in court again in April. Patch was not immediately able to contact Young's attorney, but we'll update this post if we hear back.
