Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:
- A homeless man was arrested after shoving an Asian woman into the path of an oncoming Q train in Times Square. The 40-year-old victim was waiting for the southbound Q at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 when she was pushed to her death. The 61-year-old suspect initially fled, but eventually turned himself into authorities at the Canal Street station. The ongoing murder investigation is also being considered as a possible hate crime. - The "New Spicy Village" on Eldridge Street has garnered significant attention since its opening. Though the menu options are nearly identical to the existing neighborhood eatery Spicy Village, the owner of the original restaurant has clarified that the two establishments are not connected.
