Car Fire Blocks Traffic On The Manhattan Bridge
An early-morning car fire on the Manhattan Bridge caused "extensive" traffic delays on Wednesday.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — An early-morning car fire on the Manhattan Bridge clogged traffic just before Wednesday's rush hour.
Firefighters responded to the fire at about 6:18 a.m., an FDNY spokesman told Patch. No one was injured and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes, the spokesman said. Additional details about the fire and how it started were not immediately available.
The fire broke out on the upper-level of the bridge, completely blocking Brooklyn-bound traffic while firefighters battled the blaze.

Both levels of the bridge were open as of 8 a.m., but city's emergency notification system cautioned that commuters could still face extensive traffic delays.
