Cyclist Hit By Taxi On Bowery, Police Say

A cyclist was seriously injured Monday morning in a collision near Canal Street and Bowery, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A cyclist was hit by a taxi and seriously hurt Monday morning near the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge, police said.

The 59-year-old man was cycling eastbound on Canal Street when he was hit by the taxi that was driving north on Bowery, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The man was transported to Bellevue hospital with serious injuries, the spokesman said.

The taxi driver remained on scene after the collision, authorities said.
