Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:
- The murder of Christina Yuna Lee at her Chrystie Street building has put the state of Sara D. Roosevelt Park under the spotlight once again. Residents said that the park has become a sanctuary for homeless people and alleged drug dealers, and that the drug-dealing culture within the park is a more recent emergence. Local residents have been calling for city action for some time to little or no avail. (AMNY)
- Lower East Side gallery night returns tonight, promoting local neighborhood art spaces. Gallery Night curates a self-guided walking tour through some of the area's coolest art spaces. Participating galleries will be staying open after hours in order to interact with visitors. (Time Out New York)
- Construction has topped out at 55 Suffolk St., a 30-story-residential building. The tower has made a notable impact on the neighborhood skyline, along with its 16-story counterpart as part of the Broome Street Development. The building will yield a total of 378 residential units. (New York YIMBY)
