Garbage Truck Crashes Into Cyclist On Lower East Side: Police
A cyclist was injured on Wednesday night after she was hit by a private garbage truck, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A cyclist was seriously injured late Wednesday when a privately-owned garbage truck collided with her, police said.
The woman was cycling on the Lower East Side near 135 Ridge St., an NYPD spokeswoman said. Additional details about how the accident unfolded were not immediately available.
She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. An NYPD spokeswoman could not provide details on the woman's injuries but said they were not life-threatening. Police sources told the New York Daily News that the injuries were so severe that one of her legs may have to be amputated, although an official spokesperson could not confirm this.

The driver of the truck, 45, remained on the scene. A police spokesman said the driver was arrested for driving without a license.
