Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:

  1. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul joined a rally in Times Square on Wednesday demanding justice for victims of Asian hate. Asian-Americans and supporters gathered and called for more protection from the police, and an end to hate and bias-driven attacks. The rally marked the one year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shooting, in which six Asian women were among eight people killed. (NBC New York)
  2. Construction has begun on a seven-story residential building at 282-286 Grand St. The development will yield residential, commercial, and amenity spaces across over 23,000 square feet. The most recent renderings show a more simplified design than previous iterations. (New York YIMBY)
  3. More than 50 jazz artists will team up this evening for a Ukrainian benefit concert at the Clemente's Flamboyan Theater. The nonprofit organization Arts for Art will host the five hour event. (Jazz Times)
