Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:
- Police are searching for a gunman who has targeted five homeless men, killing two, in Washington D.C. and Lower Manhattan. The suspect has attacked his victims while they sleep, and shot two men in New York City on Saturday, March 11, killing one. Police determined that the same person committed the attacks based on the similarity of the crimes, and evidence found at the crime scenes. (WRDW)
- Corlears Hook Park closure has been delayed until April. This delay represents the latest snag in the city's coastal resiliency project, which began with work in East River Park. When work does begin, access to the park will be limited to Jackson Street and the west entrances on Cherry Street. (Bowery Boogie)
- Essex Squeeze is expanding into an East Village location after two years of residency at the Essex Street Market. The juice bar was founded by two childhood friends from the Lower East Side. Their new East 5th Street location was previously home to Idlewild Coffee Co. (Bowery Boogie)
