The 39-year-old victim was riding a J train into the Delancey Street-Essex Street station at about 8:20 on Monday morning when the suspect slashed the victim. The attacker, 40-year-old Brendan Dowling, was charged with felony assault and tampering with evidence. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force was notified, though Dowling was not immediately charged with a hate crime. (Yahoo News)
- Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine and Chinatown Partnership Executive Director Wellington Chen announced an open call for project proposals for consideration in the $20 million Chinatown Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The announcement signaled an opportunity for local organizations or individuals to receive funding. In addition, there will be opportunities for members of the community to learn about and provide input on the DRI’s strategic investment plan. (AMNY)
- The Essex Card Shop, which burned down in in January, has raised over $90,000 of its $100,000 goal on GoFundMe.
