Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. On Saturday night, two men were in critical condition following stabbings by Omar Cartagena, 44. The first victim, a 30 year-old man on a skateboard, was attacked on the Williamsburg Bridge, while the second victim was attacked in Sara Roosevelt Park. Both victims were in critical condition, while the suspect was arrested at approximately 2:30 a.m. (New York Post )
  2. Dozens of Two Bridges and Chinatown residents rallied at Pier 35 to protest against the construction of four new luxury building on the waterfront. Fears of displacement pressure and an increase to cost of living in the neighborhood prompted these protests. (CBS New York)
  3. Developments in Friday night's fatal shooting on Delancey have revealed that the gunshot victim had gang affiliations, and was almost certainly targeted. The 16 year-old had notched 11 felony arrests between 2018 and 2021. There have been no arrests in connection to the shooting.(New York Post)
