It's no wonder to residents who can't catch a wink when the bar's nightlight is in full swing.

"On some Saturday nights that place buzzes like a bee hive," said Susan Wang, 48, who lives two doors down from the bar. "It just gets packed with so many people and then they spill out onto the street and it gets much worse."

Even some Yelp reviewers noted the noise level with one calling it "excessively loud at times" and another noting how densely packed the bar sometimes becomes.

"The music is loud and the space gets packed and at times [it] can be a little hard to see, but it's good for when you want to be away from all of the movement of the city," wrote Yelp reviewer Rucha D.

Louie and Chan did not respond to a request for comment.

As a whole, the Lower East Side is regularly among the city's loudest neighborhoods. Noise complaints for New York at large have steadily risen over the years shooting up from 200,000 to 384,000 between 2010 and 2015, according to a recent state comptroller's report.
