Lower East Side Man Reported Missing, Police Say

Police are searching for 89-year-old Candido Valentin, authorities said Wednesday.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are searching for a Lower East Side senior who was reported missing Wednesday, authorities said.

Candido Valentin, 89, was last seen at a Lower East Side apartment building on FDR Drive near East Houston Street on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Relatives reported him missing after he failed to show up at his Catherine Slip apartment near South Street, a police spokesman said.

Officials describe Valentin as five-foot-six and 132 pounds. He was last spotted wearing blue jeans, a navy blue shirt, grey sneakers and a red-and-beige hat.

Anyone with information in regards to the missing is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
