Man Found Dead Inside Orchard Street Hotel, Police Say

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was found dead inside a Lower East Side hotel early on Thursday morning, police said.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious man inside the Orchard Street Hotel, located at 163 Orchard St., at about 3:09 a.m. on Thursday. Officers found a 63-year-old man who was unconscious inside the hotel with no obvious signs of trauma on his body, police said.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the man.

It was not immediately clear how the man died. The city's medical examiner's officer will determine his cause of death.
