Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:

  1. A motorcycle driver was arrested after striking a police officer near the entrance to the Williamsburg Bridge. Manhattan resident Brian Weldon will face a handful of charges after the hit and run. Around 10 p.m., the police attempted to stop the motorcycle at the checkpoint, wherein Weldon accelerated a struck a barrier which in turn struck the officer. The officer suffered only minor injuries. (WABC-TV)
  2. NYPD commission Dermot Shea and officers gathered at a Brooklyn memorial service for Sala Miah, the delivery worker who was stabbed to death in Sara D. Roosevelt Park. The murder shook the city's Bangladeshi community, and left many in mourning for the loss of Miah. The victim is survived by his wise, 12-year-old daughter, and 19-year-old son who reside in Bangladesh. (AMNY)
  3. During the the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, protestors stormed the stage in the East River Park amphitheater. Toting a large banner reading "Save East River Park", the protesters stunned the crowd, and prompted a negative reaction from many spectators of the dog parade. (The Village Sun)
