Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:
- A group of young people attacked an on-duty MTA conductor in Lower Manhattan on Monday night. The teenagers threw rocks at the female conductor at the Chambers Street station, striking her in the face and chest. The victim was treated at the hospital and was “very shaken up by the attack." The incident was one of at least nine assaults reported within the city's subway system over the weekend. (PIX 11)
- Corlears Hook Park is scheduled for partial closure on Feb. 28 for continuing work on the city's Coastal Resiliency Project. Community Advisory notices were distributed last week, announcing that access to the park will be limited to Jackson Street and the west entrances on Cherry Street. There has been an apparent lack of site monitoring, as a construction fence has been toppled and has blocked the Corlears Hook Bridge path for days. (Bowery Boogie)
