Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. The planned expansion of the Musket Room into the former Parisi Bakery on Elizabeth Street has raised eyebrows in the neighborhood. The owners of the restaurant and bar broke the news by saying that, “The Musket Room’s new bakery will be a tribute the iconic Parisi Bakery it will be replacing.” Their initial application has been denied by the SLA committee of Community Board 2. (Bowery Boogie)
  2. Olfactory Art Keller, a unique gallery at 25 Henry St., has curated seven unique exhibits since its opening in February 2021. The current project, titled “New York/New Fumes,” features creations by 21 New York-based scent artists. (Untapped New York)
  3. Economy Candy, the local candy store on Rivington Street, has been going strong for over 80 years. This thoughtful write-up pays tribute to this community staple. (subscription require: The New York Times)
