Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. After over a year, there will finally be a replacement for the former Vietnamese eatery An Choi, on Orchard Street. The concept for a new restaurant at the vacant location is called Bongos, and is self-described as a "neighborhood bistro offering warmth, hospitality, and a good time." The culinary team of Michael Bray and Noble Harris — the principals behind Kind Regards on Ludlow Street — will appear before Community Board 3 to pitch Bongos for a full liquor license. If all goes according to plan the new bar and eatery will open in March 2022. (Bowery Boogie)
