Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:

  1. A man wanted in connection for the shooting of five homeless men, three in D.C. and two in Lower Manhattan, was arrested. NYPD investigators working with the D.C. Police Department and the FBI were able to apprehend the shooter in the nation's capital. Law enforcement used a ballistics match to discern that the same shooter was responsible for crimes in both cities. (Patch)
  2. Four new, local restaurants have been modernizing and reigniting the popularity of Cantonese food. Uncle Lou, and Grand Master 95, both in the neighborhood, have cemented themselves as highly popular establishments. (Eater NY)
  3. The city announced plans to roll out prototype bike parking pods across high bike traffic areas. The six-bike racks represent part of the city's broader efforts to expand secure bike parking. One such pod will be installed near the Essex Street Market in April. (6Sqft)
