NYPD Rescue Man, Woman From East River Under Williamsburg Bridge
A man dove in after a woman who jumped into the East River Thursday morning. Police were able to rescue them both.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Police rescued a woman who jumped into the East River under the Williamsburg Bridge and a man who dove in after her early Thursday morning, authorities said.
Officials rushed to scene just after 6 a.m. when emergency responders pulled the 21-year-old man from the water, a police spokesman said.
A half hour search ensued for the woman who was carried downstream near Pier 36 off of the Lower East Side before divers were able to rescue the woman, who authorities believe is in her 20s.

The woman was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital for treatment and for a psychological evaluation.
