Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, outside of a Lower East Side playground on Wednesday, announced that funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF) will pave the way to a lead-free city. Lead in the water supply has been an issue for decades, and has been particularly impacting the city's low-income communities. The $15 billion infrastructure bill will hopefully be the answer to remedy the long-standing issue. (amNY)
  2. Despite rise in food costs, the Bowery Mission continues to go above and beyond on this Thanksgiving to provide food and comfort to those in need. The Bowery Mission has been firm in its goal to help the city's homeless since 1870. About 200 volunteers will be on hand this Thanksgiving Day to distribute meals. (Spectrum News NY1)
