Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car On Lower East Side, Police Said

The 42-year-old woman was in the hospital for nearly two weeks before she passed away, authorities said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A Sunset Park woman has died from her injuries after a car careened into her on the Lower East Side nearly two weeks ago, police said Wednesday.

Officials said Suzanne Egan, 42, was crossing Madison Street in the middle of the block between Pike and Rutgers streets when a blue 2018 Honda Civic struck her at about 3:43 a.m. on July 15.

Emergency responders discovered Egan lying in the street with injuries to her head. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

On Monday, Egan succumbed to her injuries at Bellevue.

The 23-year-old driving the car remained on the scene. The NYPD's Highway District's Collision investigation Squad is investigating the incident.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning, police said.
