NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Three businesses in Nassau County sold alcohol and tobacco to children this week, Nassau County police said Tuesday. An investigation using an undercover agent, part of the department's "Project 21" initiative, led to three arrests, two in Elmont and one in West Hempstead.
On Monday, police said, a worker at 1212 Smoke Shop on Woodfield Rd. was arrested and charged with selling tobacco products to a minor. Police said they also found marijuana products being illegally sold at the store.
In Elmont, also on Monday, a worker at Del Caribe Deli on Meachem Ave. was charged with selling alcohol to a child. At BS Gas Station on Hempstead Turnpike, an employee sold alcohol and tobacco products to a youth, according to police.
