80-Year-Old Woman Critical After Sunday Crash: Police
The woman was hit at the intersection of Franklin and Cornell Avenues in Malverne, police say.
MALVERNE, NY. — An 80-year-old woman is in critical condition Monday after being hit at the intersection of Franklin and Cornell Avenues in Malverne, police said.
Nassau County police said that the woman was struck by a black Toyota Camry while on foot at the intersection just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday, police said. The woman was hospitalized after the crash and listed in critical condition, police said.
The driver of the Camry fled the scene, traveling eastbound on Franklin Avenue, police said. Police later located 19-year-old Malverne resident Matthew Calabrese and arrested him, police said. The 19-year-old now faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident with a serious physical injury, police said.
