Bench Unveiled In Det. Diller's Honor Outside Franklin Square School
The police officer from Massapequa, who was fatally shot in March, attended the John Street School as a youngster.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller, who was shot and killed while on duty in March, was honored by the Franklin Square Union Free School District.
Although Diller lived with wife and baby in Massapequa, he grew up in Franklin Square and attended John Street Elementary School.
A bench dedication took place on the school grounds on Tuesday, with members of Diller's family and the NYPD taking place in the ceremony.

"His legacy reminds our students of the valor and selflessness that profoundly impacts so many lives in this spirit of service that our school district strives to instill in all of our students," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jared Bloom said.
Franklin Square Board of Education President Stephen Toto also addressed attendees: "Detective Diller was not only a dedicated public servant, but also a cherished alumnus of our school. His unwavering commitment to protecting others and his selfless service embodied the values of 'we can, we will.'"

Detective Diller’s mother and sister, along with Principal Thomas Riccobono and Assistant
Prinicpal Jung Lee, cut the ribbon to unveil the memorial bench.
Congressman Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY 4) and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages (D-Valley Stream) also were at the solemn event.
