Op-Ed: Danielle Hopkins Asks Malverne Residents for Support

Letter to the editor from Malverne BOE candidate Danielle Hopkins.

The following is from Malverne Board of Education candidate Danielle Hopkins:

Dear Friends & Neighbors:

I am pleased to announce my candidacy as Trustee for re-election to the Malverne Board of Education.

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve these past eight years. I am quite proud to have been a part of the accomplishments made during my tenure as Trustee.

We were able to accomplish some of the following:

  • The Bond Project K-12 (School & Field Improvements)
  • Lowest tax levy increases in 15 years for recent budgets
  • Davison Avenue Intermediate School - Awards from NY State Education Department/SUNY NYS Model of  “Best Education Practices.”
  • “Excelling at Advance Placement” (AP) - throughout 2012 Malverne District Students performed exceptionally well in the AP Program and earned AP Scholar Awards.
As a lifelong resident of Lakeview, with two graduates of Malverne High School and two children presently attending, I am concerned as a parent as well as a taxpayer that our children receive a quality education. Therefore, it is important that the tri-communities are well represented.

With budgetary constraints and New York State Mandates, I will continue to be focused on ensuring that we do not compromise the educational foundation we provide our children.

With enthusiasm I seek re-election to continue to serve as your Trustee. I respectfully ask that you cast your vote for:

Experience - Commitment - Dedication
