WH Science Research Students Win Honors

West Hempstead students Matthew Kallicharran and Chris McAvoy were honored with higher awards at a special awards ceremony on June 6.  The ceremony was in honor of the top winners of the Long Island Science Congress, where over 300 students from over 40 schools participated. 

In addition, McAvoy was chosen as a finalist to represent the highly competitive Long Island region at the New York State Science Congress at Brookhaven Lab on June 8. 

McAvoy's project is entitled, “Biomimetic Wind Turbine Blade Power, speed; Flow Analysis: Leading Edge Morphology.” Kallicharran's project is entitled “Genetically Engineered Regeneration in Non-regenerating Organisms”.

Yeritssy Garcia, Jamie Rodriguez, and Alexandra Schindler, were awarded Honorable Mention for each of their projects.
