2 Officers Hurt As Car Collides During Nassau Traffic Stop: Police

There was no criminality involved in the Sunday night incident, police said.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A police car was struck during a traffic stop with another vehicle in Massapequa on Sunday night, police said.

While conducting an investigation on the eastbound side of Sunrise Highway near East Chestnut Street, a 76-year-old man in a 2021 Honda struck the rear of the parked police vehicle, authorities said.

This caused the police vehicle to strike both officers before collding with a parked 2005 Audi, police said.

Both officers sustained injuries and were brought to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The operator of the Honda was also taken to a local area hospital for evaluation. There is no criminality involved and no further injuries were reported, police said.
