Altadonna Officially Tapped for Town Clerk Role

Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna has been officially tapped by Republicans to run for Oyster Bay Town Clerk, sources said.

Altadonna, who is currently serving his seventh term as Village Mayor, would be replace Steve Labriola, who resigned in February. It wasn't immediately clear if Town officials would appoint him to fill the vacant position before the November election.

There has been speculation that Altadonna would fill the role  for several weeks, but Altadonna has not commented, except to say he was "honored"to be considered.

The mayor once again chose not to comment on the selection as he prepared for Memorial Day events and the funeral of Navy SEAL Jonathan Kaloust which was set to take place in the Village Friday morning.

"Today is not about politics, we're burying a Navy SEAL and remembering those we lost serving our country," he said.
