One of the very first things I recall in childhood was the admonition to know, love and serve God.
I remember thinking that’s an easy one. Far simpler than the 7th Commandment which neither my Mother or Sister Teresa would explain despite my constant questioning.
Life taught me to love my God. He has been so good to me. I feel His presence and I hope that falls into the category of knowing my Maker.

However, as for serving Him, well, admittedly, a bit harder.
Mostly because it is a complicated process and involves forgiveness. Not of others, but of my own inadequacies and persistent fears.

Yesterday, however, I realized life doesn’t last forever, and it is time to begin having the courage to speak frankly about my beliefs.
And so I will state for the record that the current production of White Lotus delivers a message I find offensive.
It is the current season of the vastly popular series, and like many other streaming aficionados, I eagerly awaited Season Three.
The earlier episodes provided sheer fantasy for watchers respite with colorful characters, all wrapped in outlandish and delightfully extravagant wardrobes. The popular production was an obvious fantasy, and good entertainment.
However, Season three quickly descends into darkness with the portrayal of a seemingly respectable and affluent family not merely drug addicted but stigmatized by sibling incest.
To further dramatize the story, frontal nudity of a prominent young male character is added to the volatile mixture.
I ask myself is this a valid portrayal of people I have known mandating a subtle message of approval?
And I know I cannot give mine or forgive myself if I remained silent.
