Chicks Hatch at East Lake School

Massapequa students watched baby birds come to into the world while studying embryology.

East Lake kindergartners and first graders from Mrs. Gennardo’s Student Enrichment Program had the opportunity to hatch chicks as part of their lesson on life cycles. The eggs, which came from Brenner’s Farm in Setauket, were placed in an incubator for 21 days. Five eggs hatched! Classes have been visiting for mini-lessons about chick embryology and development and for a chance to hold them.
