Freeport Man Involved In Violent Precinct Incident Faces Assault, Possession Charges: Police
Police say the man and two Nassau County police officers were hospitalized after the incident for evaluation and treatment.
MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY. — A Freeport man is facing assault and drug possession charges Tuesday after he was arrested for having a counterfeit New York State inspection sticker on his GMC Yukon Monday night, police said.
Nassau County police said 58-year-old Samuel Dash was driving the Yukon westbound on Sunrise Highway Monday night when officers observed a cracked side view mirror on the SUV. After stopping the vehicle, officers observed the counterfeit sticker, police said. Dash was then arrested without incident, police said.
Once at the seventh precinct, Dash became violent and combative, injuring two officers in a struggle at the precinct, police said. Both Dash and the two officers were hospitalized for evaluation and treatment, police said.

After investigation, police found Dash to be in possession of a substance they believe to be crack cocaine and multiple pills they believe to be Oxycodone, police said.
Dash is now facing two second-degree counts of assault, three third-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one fourth-degree count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree count of criminal possession of a forged instrument, and multiple traffic violations, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday, police said.
