Sunrise Highway Resurfacing Enters Design Phase
Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé said Monday that work is tentatively expected to begin this summer.

FREEPORT, NY. — Sunrise Highway is making progress during the least sunny time of the year, County Legislator Debra Mulé announced Monday. According to the county legislator, the south shore thoroughfare entered the design phase of its resurfacing project Monday.
The resurfacing project will repave a stretch of the highway from Harrison Avenue, in Baldwin, to the Sunrise Highway intersection with Wantagh State Parkway in Wantagh, Mulé’s office said Monday. That repaving, Mulé’s office said, will also install ADA-compliant sidewalk curb ramps on the roadway, with work beginning as soon as this summer. Funding for the project, Mulé’s office confirmed Tuesday, was provided by the New York State Department of Transportation.
“For South Shore communities, Sunrise Highway is truly one of the backbones of our local transportation infrastructure, and it is essential for it be safe and efficient for both motorists and pedestrians alike,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “These improvements will stimulate the local economy, make our daily commutes easier, and improve our quality of life, and I thank New York State for their continued focus on critical local infrastructure.”
