Enhanced Patrols Set To Nab Drunk Nassau Drivers This New Year's Eve
If you're planning to drink, designate a driver or call a cab, officials say.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — It's New Year's Eve and for those wishing to enjoy the festivities with cocktails, Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder have a message — call a ride-share service or designate a driver.
Enhanced patrols will be in force beginning Tuesday to identify and arrest motorists driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol for the New Year’s Eve holiday, officials said.
The Nassau County Police Department will be patrolling the roadways through New Year’s Day in order to continue their effort to keep roadways safe and free from intoxicated and impaired drivers. These heightened patrols will utilize STOP-DWI grant funds.

"Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder wish everyone a happy holiday season and urge drivers to use proper judgment to help keep our roads safe," a release said.
