Massapequa firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a home on Suffolk Road Thursday.
The fire broke out at 4:45 a.m. in a utility room on the first floor in the rear of the home, according to Massapequa Fire Chief Steven Daresta.
A family of five was home at the time, but they heard smoke detectors go off, and they were able to get out, Daresta said.
Firefighters were able to put the blaze out in 20 minutes and limit damage to the area around the utility room. Nobody was hurt.
