LI Hockey Star Who Died On Ice Gets Ultimate Honor

Conor Kasin's jersey number was retired and is now hanging from the rafters at the Bethpage Ice Rink.

MASSAPEQUA, NY —Connor Kasin, the hockey player from Massapequa, who died tragically during a charity game in November, is being remembered. Kasin number 37 retired by the Massapequa Varsity Hockey. His jersey is now hanging from the rafters at the Bethpage Ice Rink.

"In retiring number 37, we ensure that his legacy lives on, a symbol of his dedication, spirit, and the indelible mark he left on his teammates, coaches, and our community," said Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino.

Kasin, a senior at Massapequa High School, collapsed and lost consciousness at the rink on Nov. 30. He was part of the school's Chiefs hockey team and played for the Sharks Elite team.

Kasin was honored by Islanders with a moment of silence last month.

“Connor’s passion for the game and the love he brought to the rink will never be forgotten," Blakeman added.
