LI Mom Overdoses in Car With Baby in Back Seat: Police

BREAKING: The 29-year-old woman was slumped over the steering wheel with her 2-month-old daughter in the back seat, police say.

MASSAPEQUA, NY – A 29-year-old woman overdosed on heroin while her infant daughter was in the back seat of her car Monday afternoon in a Long Island parking lot, police said.

According to Nassau Police, officers responded to a shopping center parking lot located at 5500 Sunrise Highway in Massapequa at about 2:44 p.m. after a report of an "unresponsive female" sitting in a parked vehicle.

Officers found Rhiannon Baker, 29, of Massapequa Park, slumped over the steering wheel, police said. The car was not running.

Baker's 2-month-old daughter was in the back seat of the car at the time. The baby, who was unharmed, was released to a relative at the scene, police said.

Baker was arrested and taken to an area hospital for treatment. She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and will be arraigned when medically practical.
