LI Weekly Weather: Another Scorcher Of A Week, With Temps In The 90s

LONG ISLAND, NY —Enjoy Monday's cool weather while you can, because the rest of the week is going to be a scorcher for Long Island.

Monday is going to be overcast and cool, according to the National Weather Service, with a high around 79 degrees.

But starting Tuesday, things are going to heat up. According to AccuWeather, the heat dome that was causing a record-setting heatwave out west has been moving east, and is going to hit our area this week.

Temperatures are predicted to climb to 90 degrees on Tuesday, but it will feel closer to 100. Temps will dip a bit to the high-80s on Wednesday. Thursday will be the worst day so far this summer, with a predicted high of 96 degrees. According to AccuWeather, it will feel more like 103 degrees.

The temperatures will come down after that, but it will still be pretty hot. The high for Friday is predicted to be around 89, but it will feel hotter. There's also a chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday and into the weekend.

Tonight: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 70. West wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 87. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 96.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 75.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.
