Long Island Little Leaguers Poised For Spot In World Series

The boys from Massapequa Coast with a win on Friday night would advance to Williamsport.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — The Massapequa Coast Little League team is on the precipice of advancing to the World Series.

The 11- and 12-year-old boys held on to defeat the Connecticut squad from Fairfield on Monday afternoon, 7-5. Connecticut scored four times in the six (and final) inning.

Massapequa needs one more win to secure a spot in the Little League World Series.

On Friday night, they take on either Connecticut or Toms River East, who they beat on Saturday, for a chance to advance to Williamsport, PA.

Massapequa Coast has never reached the Little League World Series in its 72-year history.
