Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts Of Long Island
Severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and large hail to parts of the area.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Nassau County and parts of Suffolk County, as storms move into the area and bring heavy rain and potentially damaging winds with them.
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are likely to hit all of Long Island this afternoon and into tonight. The storms are expected to start after 2 p.m., and are expected to peak during the evening rush hour. In Nassau County, the storms could bring wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and drop quarter-sized hail. The warning also applies to west central Suffolk County.
The worst of the rain and thunder will hit the area between 5 and 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will start to lessen around 8 p.m., but is likely to continue throughout the night and into Tuesday morning.
According to AccuWeather, the storms are travelling across the northeast United States, and will impact millions of people along the East Coast.

Thankfully, with the rain will come lower temperatures. The high for Tuesday is predicted to be around 85 degrees.
