"The holiday season is a time for families to come together, but this defendant’s alleged actions tore his family apart when he fatally plunged a knife directly into his mother’s heart on Christmas Eve," Donnelly said. "A grief-stricken family was left to spend their Christmas mourning the senseless and tragic loss of their mother, taken from them by the hands of their own blood, according to the charges."
Donnelly said that on December 24, at approximately 6:30 p.m., 57-year-old Josefina Ramirez Montero, was inside her upstairs apartment on Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa when her youngest son, Jeremy Emmanuel Lopez Ramirez, went to a nearby laundromat.

When he returned, Lopez Ramirez allegedly began attacking his mother with a six-inch knife, puncturing her four times, including a stab wound to the heart, the D.A.'s office said. Lopez Ramirez then left the apartment and allegedly attempted to bury the knife in the ground outside the building.
Patch attempted to reach the attorney for Lopez Ramirez, Nicole Guliano.
