Massapequa Crime Report: Elderly Person Scammed

A look at 7th Precinct Reports from March 13 to March 19.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Grand Larceny

On March 18, an elderly Massapequa man was victimized in a phone scam, cops said. An unknown caller claiming to be the victim's grandson claimed to have been arrested and asked for bail to be money to be wired to him.

Larceny from Vehicle

On March 14, a catalytic converter was stolen from the parking lot of the shopping center at 5500 Sunrise Highway. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. cops said.

Petty Larceny

On March 12, a phone was reported stolen from XSport Fitness at the Sunrise Mall. The victim was playing basketball when it was swiped, police said.

On March 17, A Northport man was arrested at Sears at the Sunrise Mall and charges with Petty Larceny, police said.

On  March 17, a Bayshore woman was arrested at Sears at the Sunrise Mall and charges with Petty Larceny, cops said.

Criminal Mischief

On March 14, the door was kicked in and damaged at the 7-Eleven at 5570 Merrick Road at 2:33 a.m.

On March 14, someone threw a rock through the window of Weng's Garden Restaurant at 5650 Merrick Road between 10 p.m. the previous evening and 7 a.m.
