Massapequa Macy's To Close On April 11: State Department Of Labor

Seventy-seven employees at the Sunrise Mall are impacted by the store shutting.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — The Macy's department store in Massapequa will close on April 11, a New York State Department of Labor Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Notice revealed.

It was announced last month that three Long Island Macy's would close, including the Sunrise Mall location.

The WARN notice said the reason for the store's shutting is "economic."

The Massapequa Macy's has 77 affected employees getting laid off. They were represented by a union.

Customers visiting the Sunrise Mall Macy's website are invited to shop at the Roosevelt Field location.
