Massapequa Names Special Education Director

Jean Castelli named executive director for special education services.

A Huntington resident has been named executive director for special education and student support services for the Massapequa School District.

Jean Castelli was selected for the position after serving three years as the district’s executive assistant for student support services.

Castelli said of her new post, “It is my sincere honor to be part of the Massapequa team, which includes an outstanding professional staff and a highly supportive school community. My role supports a shared mission to educate all students to their highest level of academic potential and to teach them the skills and knowledge they need to become successful and responsible members of our society.”

Castelli first served 12 years as a teacher and building leader in the Long Beach School District before going to Massapequa. She was hired in 2000 as assistant principal of McKenna Elementary School and after five years was promoted to principal.
She has a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Penn State, a master’s degree in elementary education from Queens College and a master’s degree in education administration from LIU at Post.
