Nassau Fire Districts Send 2 Tons Of Medical Supplies To Ukraine
The Association of Fire Districts of Nassau County collected 4,000 pounds of medical supplies to help Ukrainian citizens.

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, NY — Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with members of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Long Island Chapter to recognize the Association of Fire Districts of Nassau County as they prepared to ship 4,000 pounds of medical supplies to the frontlines in Ukraine. The 20-foot shipping container full of necessary supplies is being transported by the Terry Farrell Foundation to a local port, and will reach the people of Ukraine through the association's partnership with St. Vladimir's Parish Center in Uniondale.
"The volunteer fire service is dedicated to protecting people's lives and property, and their sense of service is what made our volunteers step up to assist Ukrainians fighting to protect their homeland," Saladino said. "I thank our firefighters and EMS workers for their service to our nation, and to the cause of freedom around the globe."
In mid-March, the town initiated its own collection drive which resulted in 7,000 pounds of supplies — the largest collection on Long Island — being successfully collected and shipped to Ukraine to be distributed to those in need.
