Neighbor: Accused Gilgo Serial Killer 'Creeped Out' Sunbathing Wife
Etienne DeVilliers lived next door to the accused Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect for nearly 30 years.

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — As detectives haul away evidence from the Massapequa Park home of Rex Heuermann, a longtime neighbor spoke out about an unsettling interaction with the accused Gilgo Beach serial killer.
Etienne DeVilliers, who lived next door for 28 years, told Fox News about his initial interaction with Heuermann.
"My wife would sunbathe in the backyard," said DeVilliers, a former FDNY firefighter. "He would stand over the fence, and he would try to start conversations with her."

He said these incidents would take place while he was working, ultimately leading to his wife "getting creeped out" by him. DeVilliers told Fox News that he addressed it directly with Heuermann.
"It wasn't a pleasant conversation," he said. "We spoke pretty harshly. After that, he didn't do it again."

Heuermann asked DeVilliers to play cards on a few occasions, "but I kind of stayed away from him."
The media hasn't stayed away from the corner of First Avenue and Michigan Avenue since Friday, making it challenging for neighbors like DeVilliers.
"It's a madhouse," he said.
The biggest reveal from law enforcement has been the discovery of more than 200 guns in the home.
"That's shocking," DeVilliers said.
Heuermann's DNA has reportedly been entered into a statewide database to see if it matches any other unsolved crimes. That development this week comes as law enforcement continued Tuesday to investigate a storage facility in Amityville.
Also this week, a California forensic psychiatrist told Patch that Heuermann could be "a sexual sadist" based on evidence that surfaced. Dr. Carole Lieberman, a Los Angeles-based psychiatrist who went to Stony Brook University, told Patch she found it troubling that Heuermann, according to prosecutors, kept a close eye on the victims' families and reportedly called some of the family members.
