Overdose Investigation Leads NCPD To Illegal THC Sales: Police

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Nassau County police arrested three men they say were selling drugs from two stores in Massapequa.

According to police, an investigation into a non-fatal drug overdose led detectives to Sunrise Deli Convenience Store, at 1 Park Lane, and Sunrise Smoke Shop, at 33 Sunrise Highway. Police said both stores were selling tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Police arrested Mahendrakumar G. Patel, 39, of Flushing; Meet D. Patel, 23, of Hicksville; and Prem R. Parekh, 20, of Hicksville.

Mahendrakumar Patel and Prem Parekh were both charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (with intent to sell). Meet Patel was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (with intent to sell). All three are scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
