Sunday will mark the start of the most important week of the Christian calendar.
It is the start of Holy Week, which is the week leading up to Easter Sunday. The first observance will be Palm Sunday, or Passion Sunday, the day Christians remember Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem.
The day is marked by the distribution of palms, which are blessed in Roman Catholic services. The mass includes a reading of the passion, which tells of the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion.
