Sign Up for Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon
Registration kicks off for 26th annual event.
Athletes in the Town of Oyster Bay area can officially begin registering for the 26th Annual Runner's Edge-TOBAY Triathlon.
The triathlon takes place Aug. 24. This year's event was scheduled for a Saturday so as not to conflict with religious services or inconvenience residents in surrounding communities.
Registration fees are as follows:

- April 1-30: $75
- May 1-31: $90
- June 1-30: $105
- After June 30: $125
Residents of TOBAY can deduct $10 from their entrance fee. Register at runnersedgetobaytriathlon.com or call Linda at (516) 349-7646.
Only 1,500 entrants will be accepted for the triathlon, so officials are recommending early registration.

The summer event consists of a half-mile swim in Oyster Bay Harbor, a 15-kilometer bike ride through Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, and Laurel Hollow, and finally a five-kilometer run up to Planting Fields and back down to Theodore Roosevelt Park.

“The Runner’s Edge – Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon is one of Long Island’s most important recreational sporting events and one of the most important triathlons in the Northeast,” said Triathlon Co-Director Ray Farrell.
The first set of athletes begin their swim at 7:30 a.m. and the last set of athletes are expected to cross the finish line by 11 a.m.
Immediately following the event will be a Western Beef Post-Race Barbecue. Food is free for all race participants.
“We are hopeful that the new Saturday setting for the event will work well for everyone, and we certainly are looking forward to the new post-race Western Beef Post Race Barbecue," said Farrell.
Young ones can also register for the 9th Annual Runner's Edge-TOBAY Junior Triathlon. Athletes aged 8-13 who can run, swim, and bike are welcome to register for $25 in advance or $30 the day of the race. The junior triathlon consists of a 200-yard swim in the harbor, a 2.5-mile cycle, and a one-mile run within the confines of Theodore Roosevelt Park.
